You don’t need to change the Google WiFi Setup router’s password too often but sometimes, you may notice unusual login to your internet from location other than your home. If this is the case or you have forgotten the password, then change Google Wi-Fi router password as early as possible.
Despite everything, you can easily change the password by getting into router settings after login. You can enter any password of your preference.
- Login to the router as an administrator.
- Go to ‘Wi-Fi’ password settings.
- Enter a new password.
- Save changes.
Login to the router as an administrator
To login to the router administrator page, you need an IP address, username, and password.
Check what kind of router you are using from the list of models and note down the IP address, password and username.
If you are using the Google WiFi Login router, then check the list of routers and get a username and password from there. If it says, you can leave the username field as it is, then no need to add anything in the field and enter IP address directly to the address bar. Login through a password which is generally ‘Admin’.
If you find your model is not on the list, you can visit the router manufacturer website and download the manual from there. All the details like IP address, Subnet mask address, and a username and default password are given inside the manual. If the IP address mentioned in the guided manual doesn’t work, you can try by changing the last digit.
Finding the password settings
You can easily find the Google WiFi Help password settings once you log in. Go to ‘Network’ then to ‘Wireless’ section. From here, you can check the wireless information related to the router. The terminology may vary from router to router.
After successful login to the page, you will find an option like ‘SSID or encryption’. Click on it and check the ‘Password’ section. In some routers, you will find it like ‘Share key’, Passphrase or WPA-PSK.
For Google Wi-Fi routers, you will find the password settings under the ‘Wireless’ tab. Go to ‘Wireless security’ and then ‘WPA shared key’.
Set new password
Enter the new password of your choice in the given field. Ensure that the password you are entering must satisfy the conditions. It should be a minimum of 8 characters and must contain one special character so that it can’t be guessed by someone.
You can store your password in ‘Free password manager’ if it is not easy to remember.
Save your Wi-Fi password changes
Last but not least, save the password after making necessary changes. You will find ‘Save’ or ‘Save changes’ button at the end of the page. Click on it after entering the new password.
